It's helpful to find clarity in what we want our lives to look like. But the truth is, we don’t have to make it this stressful thing that brings us down.

Author Danielle Laporte, promotes the idea of understanding how you want to FEEL in your life. This makes sense. If you can get clear on how you want to feel, you almost do not need that long list of how you want your life to look in the future. You work on feeling those feelings of what makes you happy… right now. The other day, I realized that in order for me to get clear on what I wanted, I needed to clearly figure out my soul’s mission.

When you find your soul’s mission statement, the things that you work on at home, complete in your spare time, or do for your career, suddenly might not seem so fragmented or separate after all. When you understand your soul’s mission, your life becomes guided down a path of what you feel you want to stand for and contribute towards. Things start to make sense and you start to feel more clarity. You don’t have to concern yourself with painting once a week to be considered an ‘artist’, or working full time at the animal shelter to be considered a positive change for animals. It simply all blends into one big mission. Whatever you are doing, it has purpose, connection and direction.

Your soul’s mission is similar to a business mission statement, yet it acts as a positive pathway to your big picture. For example, someone might love to volunteer at an animal shelter, create beautiful calming paintings of scenic views in their spare time, and work at a library. With adding up these life details, as well as what the most important things are in their life, they have a great start to their soul’s mission. They might want to live in a beautiful house on the beach, have a loving husband and two children, have a fun career where they can both work from home making $300,000 a year. Yet an absolutely fantastic vision, the stress of getting to that place in one's mind might become slightly overwhelming. For some people, they cannot seem to even envision the life they would love to live, therefore breaking the idea down into a soul's mission statement instead can be much more helpful.

As you develop your soul’s mission statement, the things that you strive for in life, might start to change. Important material things might not mean as much to you anymore.  Possibly things you never thought you wanted, are now at the top of your priority list. Start by listing the things you do right now (career and hobbies), the things you would like to be doing, and how you want to contribute to this world. What is the most important to you? What do you love to do? Your soul’s mission should be a positive statement of what you stand for and how you can make a difference.

If someone loved helping others, showing kindness to all people and animals, and educating others on a variety of topics (including how to take care of animals). This person's soul mission statement might be… “Helping all living beings reach happiness, freedom, and feel ease through proper education and care.”

In case you are wondering, my soul’s mission is… “By showing the world the things I love and love to do, I am inspiring the world to live artfully and be more creative - therefore increasing harmony on Earth.

Please comment below and tell us what your soul’s mission statement is.
